About headboards

A bespoke upholstered headboard is one of the biggest transformations you can make in a bedroom. From tall winged designs to soft scalloped shapes, headboards are made to your bed size and wall height, in any fabric, with hidden fixings or floor-standing legs.

Deep diamond buttoning with studded borders for a traditional look.

Scalloped & shaped

Curved silhouettes for a softer, feminine feel.

Panelled & fluted

Vertical channels or square panels — clean, contemporary lines.

Fabric options

Velvet

The most popular choice — soft, warm, sound-absorbing.

Linen & linen unions

Casual and coastal, especially in whites and stone tones.

Textured, hides marks, currently very much on-trend.

How the process works

  1. 1

Design & measure — share your bed size, ceiling height and any inspiration images; we help you finalise shape, height and detailing.

  2. 2

Fabric selection — browse thousands of fabrics or upload a photo of your bedroom to preview them with the AI visualiser.

  3. 3

Frame build — the maker cuts a plywood frame to your exact size and shape, with wall-hung brackets or floor-standing legs.

  4. 4

Upholstery — foam and wadding are layered on, then your fabric is hand-pulled, buttoned or fluted and finished with piping or studding as chosen.

  5. 5

Delivery & fitting — the finished headboard is delivered fully assembled, ready to bolt to the divan or hang on the wall.

Headboards — frequently asked questions

How much does a bespoke headboard cost?
A plain single headboard starts around £250; a standard king-size in a mid-range velvet is typically £450–£750; large winged or deep-buttoned designs in premium fabric run £900–£1,800. Wall-hung and extra-tall designs are priced individually.
How long does it take to make?
Most bespoke headboards are made in 3–5 weeks from fabric confirmation. Rush orders can sometimes be accommodated for holiday-let and staging projects.
How does it fix to my bed?
You can choose bolt-on struts that attach to a divan base, or wall-hung brackets so the headboard sits behind the bed independently. Floor-standing legs are also an option for taller designs.
Can you match an existing bedroom scheme?
Yes — send a photo of the room and any curtain, cushion or wallpaper samples. We'll recommend fabrics that sit with what you already have, and you can preview them on the wall using the AI visualiser.
Do you make headboards for unusual bed sizes?
Yes. Emperor, super-king, small double, continental and antique bed sizes are all made to order — just send the measurements.
